How do I add/edit a User Role in my REDCap project?
Log into the REDCap database you wish to add the role to. From the applications side bar menu select User Rights.
Create New Role
Once the User Rights page opens, enter the name of the new role under Create new roles and click +Create role.
Select the functions that the new role should be able to perform.
Click Create role.
Copy Existing Role
Alternatively, new roles can be created by copying and modifying a role that already exists in the database. On the User Rights page, click on the role you would like to copy and choose Copy role in the lower right-hand corner.
Similar to creating a new role, enter a name for the role, click Copy role, and select the appropriate privileges.
Finally, Save Changes to apply the settings to the new copy.
Edit Existing Role
On the User Rights page, click on the role name you would like to modify.
Update the desired settings (role name, user privileges, etc.) within the Edit window.
Click Save Changes to apply the updates to the role.
