This page is driven from API imported from Django. Any updates within Django only show after a top of each hour site sync.

There should not be a need to revise the layout/design off this page. To update the information displayed, log into Django. Choose “Publications” on the left side. To add a new publication, click “Add Publication” at top right. To update an existing publication, click on the name of the publication.

There are two ways to add or update publications. To add you can import publications in bulk or you can add them individually.

Importing New Publications

  • All existing Publication records were exported out of PubMed in CSV format and imported into the database with a Consortia association added

  • Periodically, new articles will need to be sourced from PubMed and uploaded to Django:

  1. Navigate to PubMed and search for the consortium’s grant number.

  2. Click the “Save” button, toggle the Selection dropdown menu to “All results” and the Format menu to “CSV.”

  3. Click “Create File”

  4. Next, go to Django Publications and select the Consortium you wish to update from the Filter option.

  5. Click the “Export” button, select “xlsx” from the Format menu, and click the “Submit” button.

  6. Open the Django Publications xlsx, then cut the PubMed ID column and paste it next to the ID column in column A, shifting all other content over.

  7. Create a second tab in the xlsx file and copy and paste the entire contents of the PubMed CSV there.

  8. In the PubMed tab, add a column next to the PubMed ID column. Insert a VLOOKUP function here. =VLOOKUP(A2,Django!A:B,2,0)

  9. Select the PubMed ID cell as the item to “lookup,” then insert a comma and navigate back to the Django content tab.

10.  Select all of columns a and b as the lookup content (highlight the entirety of each column), then type add “,2,0”

11.  If the PubMed publications is already entered in Django, a Django ID will appear next to the PubMed ID in the PubMed tab and you DO NOT need to upload that content.

12.  Before uploading the new PubMed content, be sure to add columns labeled “Consortia,” Diseases,” and “Status.”

  1. If no PubMed ID is displayed, then this publication should be added to Django (see below for adding a new publication and follow those steps – there is a way to import studies using a spreadsheet – if you need to do this, please reach out to the DMCC help desk for assistance.)

Formatting

  • IMPORTANT: Do not place any spaces or punctuation marks, such as a period, semicolon, colon, etc., at the end of the title and author field entries. The website is designed to automatically add spacing and punctuation in between the fields display. DO add a period at the end of the citation.

    • Authors: If present, remove periods and/or spaces between author initials and last names (i.e. use Miller BS and not Miller, B.S. or Miller, B. S.)

      • Repeat first author entry in the author section. If you leave the first author out of the author section, it will not show up on the website.

    • Citations: Do not include the author names, the article title OR the publication name in the citation field. The website is programmed to display this information separately. Please format citations as follows:  2019 Oct 8;9(1):253. doi: 10.1038/s41398-019-0588-1.

      • If you are adding a single publication and will not export a CSV from PubMed, please copy the citation that appears above the article title on PubMed following these steps:

        • Click on “Cite” on the right-hand side of the pubmed page

          image-20250108-150153.png

Select the citation information and then copy and paste:

          image-20250108-150253.png

In this example, the citation is “Neurol Neuroimmunol Neuroinflamm. 2024 May;11(3):e200241. doi: 10.1212/NXI.0000000000200241. Epub 2024 Apr 16. PMID: 38626361; PMCID: PMC11087030.” BUT - remember we need to remove the publication name as this is pulled into the site using the publication field. So the citation should be entered as: “2024 May;11(3):e200241. doi: 10.1212/NXI.0000000000200241. Epub 2024 Apr 16. PMID: 38626361; PMCID: PMC11087030.” in Django in the citation field.

      • Some publications are associated to more than one consortium, do not add the same publication more than once

Add a publication—click “Add Publication” at top right. To update an existing publication, click on the name of the publication.
